What is Adjective and what types of Adjective?


Adjective: An Adjective is a word used to add something to the maning of a Noun or Pronoun. Example:

  1. Mita is a good girl.
  2. He is a bed boy.
  3. I have a red shirt.

Adjective classified into 7 types:

  1. Adjective of Quality
  2. Adjective of Quantity
  3. Adjective of  Number
  4. Pronominal Adjective
  5. Emphasising Adjective
  6. Proper Adjective
  7. Comparison of Adjective
1. Adjective of Quality: Adjective of  quality or descriptive adjective show the kind or quality of a person or thing. Such as: Good, bed, happy, intelligent, beautiful etc. Example:

  1. Rita is a beautiful girl.
  2. Nabid is an intelligent boy.

2. Adjective of Quantity: Adjective of quantity show how much of a thing is must. Such as: Much, some, enough, all etc. Example:
  1. I ate some rice.
  2. He has enough money.
3. Adjective of  Number: Adjective of numbers or numeral adjective show how many persons or things are meant or in what order a person or thing stands. Such as: Two, first, third, single etc. Example:
  1. He has two story books.
  2. The boy has got first prize.
4. Pronominal Adjective: Adjective formed from pronoun are called Pronominal Adjective. Such as: This, that, these, each, every, another etc. Example:
  1. Each boy has got a prize.
  2. This man is poor.
5. Emphasising Adjective: Emphasizing Adjective is when Very and own are placed before Now to express emphasis in the sentence. Example:
  1. My own brother does the work. 
6. Proper Adjective: Adjectives formed from Proper Nouns are Proper Adjectives. Example:
  1. We do not want indian cloth.
7. Comperson Adjective: The form of adjective that can be separated from one person or thing is called Compersion Adjective. Example: 
  1. He is taller than I.
